The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services quietly changed an iconic phrase of identity and no longer bears the proud label of being a Nation of Immigrants. This is in light of the new, stricter application of the rules, and confirming the anti-immigrant rhetoric of this present Administration.
It is now more important than ever to learn and be active about your rights and duties, to be aware of what is happening all over the USA, and to raise our voice if we are proud or unhappy with the present state of the immigration system.
As a resident of the city and state in which we live, we have the right to call our representatives and let them know of our concerns, comments and our gratitude when appropriate. If you are able to vote, please do so to support what you consider is right and/or the politician who supports it.
It is a reality that not everybody supports immigration; however, it is also a reality that our great nation, the United States of America, is founded, built and driven by the hard labor and focus of many immigrants that looked for a better, more prosperous future.
